D.Gray-man is part of the shounen anime genre. The genre that more or less tends to have a mix of fighting and slapstick comedy, along with the cliche “oh, I’m too palish to kill you even though the fate of the world hangs in the balance” type of main characters. While d. Gray-man’s protagonist clearly shares some of these traits, I still find the series extremely enjoyable. Perhaps it’s because of the concept of Exorcists vs Demons (that have enough barrels to put battleships to shame), or maybe it’s just because of Lenalee - yeah that’s probably it.
