My first interaction with anime was Dragonball Z, which I first saw back in 1995 when I was only 8 years old. It was one of those horribly dubbed (in Chinese, which is a million times worse than any English dub show that I’ve seen to this day) episodes that a relative had given to me as a Christmas gift. My interest was piqued once more when Toonami of Cartoon Network started showing DBZ a few years later. A friend of mine showed me an episode of the Kyoto arc of Rurouni Kenshin and I was instantly hooked and sought to find more via, you guessed it, the internet. I downloaded Rurouni Kenshin in quite possibly the most terrible fashion ever - via KazaA. Worst yet, back then I was on a horrible 56k connection so the episodes took hours to finish and were also extremely bad quality as well. One thing led to another, and when I discovered the brilliant program that was Bittorrent, my craving for anime increased dramatically.
